As the new academic year approaches, º£½Ç»»ÆÞ County Council's Learning Services are unveiling their refreshed Young Adult Learning º£½Ç»»ÆÞ (YAL) programme, starting this September.
Young Adult Learning º£½Ç»»ÆÞ provides an engaging alternative to Sixth Form or College for young people aged 16 to 19 (up to 24 with an Education & Health Care Plan), giving leaners a dedicated space to achieve and succeed. Learners can take part in qualification-based study programmes and traineeships in a supportive environment designed to help them to achieve and succeed.
The 2025 to 2026 offer includes study programmes and bespoke traineeships tailored to each learner’s career interests, employability skills, plus they can work towards essential Maths and English qualifications they may have missed out on.
This year, the programme continues to expand through strong partnerships. Students will benefit from careers advice through Careers º£½Ç»»ÆÞ and wellbeing support from Seetec Pluss.
In addition, YAL’s Supported Internship programme is returning for its second year, delivered in partnership with º£½Ç»»ÆÞ Acute NHS Trust. This initiative gives learners with an EHCP the opportunity to gain real-world work experience at º£½Ç»»ÆÞ Royal Hospital in Worcester and the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch.
Anna Lee, Manager of Learning Services for º£½Ç»»ÆÞ County Council, said, "Young Adult Learning º£½Ç»»ÆÞ is all about giving learners the confidence and skills they need to achieve their goals. By combining study programmes with practical placements and tailored support, we’re ensuring that young people across the county have the opportunity to progress into further education, training, or employment in a way that works best for them."
Study takes place at accessible locations across the county, including Willow Trees Community Centre in Church Hill, Redditch and the Fairfield Learning Centre in Warndon, Worcester. Study programmes typically run for an academic year, while traineeships last around 6 to 12 months and include practical work placements.
