º£½Ç»»ÆÞ’s very own Moving Caterpillar successfully made it to the finish line of this year’s Worcester City Runs 10k on Sunday 14th September.

The group were cheered on by crowds of waving flags, clapping hands and encouraging voices all along the route.

The team of 24 people – made up of foster carers, children with care experience, council staff, senior leaders and councillors – walked and ran the course together, linked as one long caterpillar in º£½Ç»»ÆÞ Fostering green.

The challenge symbolised the way families, communities, and services join forces to support children in care. Every step was taken in unison to show that when it comes to fostering, teamwork makes all the difference.

Members of the caterpillar also shared how much they enjoyed the experience:
One participant said:
“The atmosphere was incredible – people cheering us on, children waving flags, it really kept us going. Being linked together gave us such a strong sense of teamwork. We had so much fun while also showing what fostering is all about – moving forward together.â€

Another added:
“It was definitely a challenge, but we laughed all the way round. Everyone supported each other, whether we were walking or jogging, and it felt like we really spread some smiles through the city.â€

Adam Johnston, Director of Children’s Services at º£½Ç»»ÆÞ County Council, said:
“The caterpillar made it across the line thanks to every single person involved. Just as every leg of the caterpillar was vital to finishing the race, every role is essential in supporting our children in care. It was brilliant to see the smiles, the cheers, and the conversations we sparked along the way – raising awareness in such a positive, fun way.â€

The event not only brought attention to the urgent need for foster carers across º£½Ç»»ÆÞ but also highlighted the joy and energy that comes from working as a team.

The Moving Caterpillar has shown that whether running a race or supporting children in care, every leg counts in a journey of care.
